*ONLINE BID SUBMISSIONS ONLY* Supply, Delivery and Installation of Part A – One (1) Fire Decontamination Machine and / or Part B – One (1) Turnout Gear Extractor Contaminated protective equipment exposes fire staff to potentially life-threatening materials, biological agents, and particulate matter. If gear is not cleaned properly, contamination can spread. Part A The City of Burlington (the “City”) is requesting bids from qualified bidders for the supply and delivery of a Firefighter PPE and SCBA Decontamination Machine for Burlington Fire for the purposes of cleaning and/or decontaminating structural firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE). The product requested is the Meiko TopClean D Decontamination Unit or approved equivalent. Part B The City is requesting bids from qualified bidders for the supply and delivery of a turnout gear extractor washing machine for Burlington Fire for the purposes of cleaning and/or decontaminating structural firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE). The product requested is the Circul-Air Genius Pro Industrial Soft Mount Extractor – 45 Pro or approved equivalent. Lithium‑ion battery fire incidents present an emerging contamination risk to firefighting PPE, with by‑products that may include fine particulates, semi‑volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), and metallic residues capable of penetrating multiple PPE layers. Industry research and standards recognize that such exposures may require enhanced or specialized cleaning processes beyond routine advanced cleaning to reduce residual contamination and secondary exposure risk. For the purposes of this RFT, severe contamination events may include, but are not limited to, lithium‑ion battery fires, hazardous materials incidents, or other incidents where PPE may be exposed to elevated levels of particulate, chemical, or metallic contaminants beyond typical structural firefighting exposure.
