The City of Burlington requires auction services to dispose of surplus vehicles and equipment. The number of vehicles and equipment available for auction will vary from year to year depending on the budget available and the replacement cycle. Average funds acquired through auction services over the past five (5) years are approximately $85,000 per year. For the purpose of analyzing the bids, an average sale of $85,000 will be used to calculate the commission charged and the gross profit. The cost of towing and pick up fees will be deducted from the gross profit to determine the net profit payable to the City.
The auction service provider must be registered as a Motor Vehicle Dealer with the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC). Bidders must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in performing auctions of this type. The Successful Bidder will handle all activity associated with Posting items available to public auction; the city will not be required to take photos or summarize descriptions etc. for the auction. City of Burlington requires a minimum of three (3) auction sales per year. • Spring Sale (April or May) • Summer Sale (June or July) • Fall Sale (October or November)
